Milan

Dear Clemmie,

On Monday, the LTC started a 10 day (nights really) exercise so I flew in the evening to Milan. I hated it immediately because there was a wailing/crying woman on the very crowded bus that dropped me off nowhere near my hotel. As for the wailing woman, she must have been generally crazy because no one paid her much attention, including her son (?) traveling with her. I found my hotel after about 10 and went straight to bed.

I spent yesterday exploring the Duomo, Pallazo Reale, La Rinascente and Galleria Vittorio. At the Pallazo I thoroughly enjoyed a Keith Haring exhibit while dodging a thunderstorm. The Duomo museum and Duomo are pretty spectacular as long as you don’t think about 500 years of Church money being spent on this impossible cathedral. It is stunning and naturally they are still working on it – mostly refurbishing. I finally sat down to eat at a cafe in the piazza and window shopped my way back to the hotel.
Everywhere you look, it’s a postcard view. Even most of the people look like something out of an ad campaign- men in suits on scooters; women in couture and impossible high heels and everyone eating gelato all day long.
I’m off today for Verona. The real city that is home to the fictional Romeo and Juliet. I may even try to squeeze in a visit to a winery or two….
Love to all, two legs and four legs!
